Understanding the process
Product Description
We use CEMTEC Concrete repair product. CEMTEC ONE STEP SPRAY TEXTURE is a single component decorative concrete system consisting of pre-blended cement, aggregate and polymers. ONE STEP requires only the addition of water for blending. The product can be troweled or sprayed horizontally or vertically onto existing concrete, cement board, concrete blocks or brick. The product can be integrally tinted by using pre-measured pigment pack and/or stained with a pigmented sealer to create a variety of colors and patterns.
Surface Preparation
All surfaces must be clean and free of dirt, dust, paint, sealers, form release, curing agents, grease, oil or anything that would inhibit mixed material from coming into contact with the open pores of the substrate. Any anti-adherent must be removed mechanically. Pressure washing, sand blasting, water blasting, grinding & shot blasting are a few good methods of removal.On existing surfaces not burdened with these anti-adherents, pressure washing coupled with acid etching should be considered; especially on smooth, steel troweled or formed concrete.
Saturate the substrate with water and allow to absorb. Blow or broom off any puddled water before application. This will give you a saturated, surface dry (SSD) substrate. We take great care to protect surrounding surfaces by using and bubble wrap and over spraying paper and Coping Expansion Joints Mastic-Caulking.
Product Application
We mix and apply a skim coat to the SSD prepared substrate with a trowel or squeegee and allow the skim coat to dry. When skim coat drys, we mix and spray desired patterns and trowel over to knock down peaks as needed. Allow resurfaced concrete to dry for 24 hours and then apply 2 coats of Acrylic Sealer.
